Since 2003, Movember has been a driving force for change in men’s health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. The charity has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up research and motivating men to take action for their health.
The Movember website is very good. It is packed with information on men’s health. It also explains the background .. founded in Australia, and in 2008, Movember Ireland is officially launched in partnership with the Irish Cancer Society.

If the aim of the fundraiser is to look silly in order to raise awareness of Men’s health, then I am succeeding.
I decided to not shave from the 6th November when I was self-isolating after a Covid test which came back positive – giving me ten days to get started. I wasn’t expecting much given the ginger hair in the family. The result with the mix of grey hair makes the Mo (moustache) hardly noticeable – but it suits the season and is for a good cause!
